Sasthamkotta Gifted with abundant natural beauty and extensive flora and fauna, the Sasthamkotta Lake offers plenty of opportunities to the travelers, truly in love with 'God's Own Country' Kerala, to explore its exotic beauty. Surrounded by the lush green valleys of Sasthamkotta, this lake is known to be one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kollam, situated about 29 km from the Kollam town. The locals call it as 'Queen of Lakes,' mainly because of the refreshing beauty, that surround the place and cultural extravaganza in the form of temples.

Ochira: Ochira is located 34kms away from north of Kollam. Ochira is one of the famous pilgrim centers which invite thousands of tourists to enjoy the splendid nature and pious ambience. The age old temple with its rich past will surely make your trip a memorable and excellent.

Paravoor : Paravoor, 20 kilometres from Kollam, is a narrow skirt of land stretching in between the backwaters and the sea. It is now a town cum municipality. It is easily accessible through road and rail.

A beach resort by KTDC and a major water sports complex by Kollam DTPC will adorn this place very soon. The famous Varkala beach is a mere 15 kilometres drive from here.

Paravoor is well connected by road and rail.

Kottarakkara Kathakali Museum Kottarakkara Kathakali Museum is the major attraction of kollam. It is located in the Kollam district that was built as the memorial of the father of Kathakali, Kottarakkara Thampuran. In this museum, an array of collection of antiques, ornaments, models of Kathakali, costumes, ornaments, musical equipments and sculptures of kathakali, costumes and models of dance forms.

Kottarakkara is a village in the state of Kerala that lies 27 km to the east of Kollam. It is found 18 km to the west of Punalur on National Highway 208/220. It is also known as the headquarters of Kottarakkara Block and Taluk including six panchayaths.

The museum is totally inspired with a highly stylized classical Indian dance-drama. This form is noted for its unique make-ups, their colourful costumes, refined gestures and well-defined body moments. These are properly presented with the tune of anchor playback music in feature dramas. This concept was originated in the 17th century AD. After many years, it has updated with better looks, sophisticated gestures and added themes as well as more ornate singing and precise drumming.

Thevalli Palace Thevalli PalaceThis is a beautiful and historically renowned palace situated on the banks of Ashtamudi Kayal (backwater),Sasthamkotta, 26 Km. north-east of Kollam city. Sasthamkotta is situated on the banks of Kallada river. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Sastha.

The place is also known for the Sasthamkotta fresh water lake. This natural gift is set amidst scenic surroundings covered by hills on the three sides.

Matha Amrithanandamayi Ashram, Vallikavu Matha Amrithanandamayi Ashram, VallikavuThe residence and the headquarters of Matha Amrithanandamayi Devi, one of Indias female gurus, is situated at Amrithapuri near Vallikavu. The ashram is accessible both by road and boat.

It is the residence of more than 3000 people, from both India and Abroad. Here they spent their time meditating, singing devotional songs, doing community service. They believe and follow the ideal of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘the whole world is one family’.
